3-day weekend and 3 tips to create website copy that converts!

01 May 2015 15:19

With the long weekend approaching, it can be a good time to take stock and think about how to refresh your website copy.

Even reading this, you'll be wondering, why should I care about my website copy? How does the way something is written effect my website? Well, by following a few simple rules, your website can engage your users further. Which, in turn, converts users into customers.

Rule 1. Write with your user in mind.

By answering the 'what's in it for me?' question and pre-empting other reader queries, you take your readers on a journey, perhaps just one step closer to buying from you.

But, what if you aren't a creative writer, blogging isn't your forte or you're just not sure what to say?

This brings us nicely to...

Rule 2. Focus on being trustworthy, not groundbreaking.

Most users visiting your website just want to be engaged and find reasons to trust you. Whilst your content must be rich and worthwhile, it does not have to be written as inspired, imaginative prose.

So, we've established writing is worthwhile, not too scary and user focussed but... then what? It's time to ask your reader to act.

Rule 3. Clearly ask your readers to take action.

Any website copy should have a clear 'point' or 'call to action'. Whether this is to 'click', 'comment', 'share', 'get in touch', 'buy now' or 'read on',  all copy should be written with the goal in mind.

So, what's our goal? Well our goal is that you feel confident enough to go and try with your website. However, feel free to get in touch if you have any queries or would like to know more about how we could help you increase conversions through your website copy.
